Discover the beauty of the Sacred Valley horseback riding through the Andean mountains and/or to archeological sites, such as the Inca agricultural laboratory of Moray or the “Salinas” near Maras (thousands of Inca salt ponds still in use today). The connoisseur rider will appreciate the docility of the Peruvian “Paso” horse, originally imported by the Spanish Conquistadors and later carefully bred. It is reputed for its trademark, the natural four-beat lateral gait called “paso llano.” The “paso llano” is executed with a distinctive action in the front legs, called “termino,” a graceful, flowing movement in which the forelegs are rolled towards the outside as the horse strides forward.
For the curious, we also offer dressage demonstrations of the Peruvian “Paso” horses, a ballet orchestrated by professional Peruvian riders, called the « Chalan », to the rhythms and sounds of the traditional “Marinera” dance...
