Just feel the extraordinary…

This combined itinerary, departing from Lima, Peru and finishing in La Paz, Bolivia, is our most complete and longest discovery, and has for premises wide open spaces and local encounters. It couples the visit of two fascinating countries, which are often mistaken, because of their shared common features, but whose colorful souls are intrinsically unique,

In Peru, this journey reveals the contrasting essences of Peru, a modern country carrying the colorful allure of traditions bequest from the particular syncretism of Inca and Spanish influences. Along this itinerary, history will unfold as you discover the heart of the ancient Inca Empire, with its breath-taking natural beauty and awe-inspiring archaeological wonders, and appreciate the artistic legacy of the Spanish colonial era, while understanding the dialectics of this amazing country, of how its past translated into its modern cultural make-up.

You will get familiarized with its bustling capital Lima, explore the heart of the Inca empire in Cuzco and the Sacred Valley, where you will have the opportunity to see Andean farmers at work and meet with local weavers for a demonstration. Then, you will traverse the Andean “Altiplano” to Lake Titicaca, from where you will cross over to Bolivia, a surprising ecologically diverse and culturally heterogeneous country.

In Bolivia, you will cross different natural environments, all filled with chromatic magic, from the high altitude of La Paz, to the warmer Amazon region of Las Yungas, to the Dali-esque moon landscapes of the Uyuni Salar and South Lipez desert, to the colonial towns of Potosi and Sucre. You will have the opportunity to tour La Paz markets with your guide, to encounter Afro-Bolivian coca growers in Tocaña and Alpaca breeders in the Sajama Park and live underground moments with Potosi’s silver mine workers.

In La Paz, you will explore, in the company of your expert guide, the city and its colorful markets. From La Paz, you will be transfered to the jungle town of Coroico. You will discover the Afro-Bolivian villages located in the heart of the valley of “Las Yungas.” To reach “Las Yungas,” you will follow the famous road of “La Cumbre” for a thrill ride, which was reputed as the most dangerous road on earth, when trucks used to circulate on it. Carved into the mountain’s flanks, “la Cumbre” is a 28-mile long sinuous dirt road which evolves in contrasting scenery by dropping from the “Altiplano” at 13,100 feet high into the lush jungle.

Then, you will explore the Aymara land of alpaca and llama breeders, the Sajama reserve, located in a surrealist moon landscape. In the heart of the “Altiplano,” the reserve is dominated by the Sajama peak reaching an altitude of 21,300 feet high and by a volcano range marking the border with Chile. You will also stop in the ghost town of Tomarapi where you will encounter local breeders.

From the Sajama reserve, you will continue to the amazing salt deserts of Bolivia. Along this 4WD circuit you will explore the astonishing surrealist decors of the incredible salt deserts of Coipasa, Uyuni, and the South Lipez. The lagunas “verde”, “blanca,” and “colorada,” the pink flamingo colonies, the Dali-esque stone formations, the volcanic activity of Sol de Mañana, the island of Inka Wasi with its giants cacti, the herds of ” vicunas”  are all visual treasures that will punctuate you itinerary. At the end of the circuit, you will stop in the village of Tupiza in order to relax.

From Tupiza, you will go to Potosi, famous for its silver mines, where you will live underground moments with local miners. From there, you will discover the colonial town of Sucre and its colonial architecture and treasures, and visit the colorful market of the traditional village of Tarabuco.

From Sucre, you will fly back to La Paz for a last impression of the city, leaving for your international destination the following day.
